The editorial project "Letters and Records regarding the Church Politics of Frederick the Wise and John the Constant from 1513 to 1532" documents the ecclesiastical political actions of two key figures in the early history of the Reformation – the two brothers and electors Frederick and John of Saxony – based on written records from the years 1513 to 1532. Since June 2023, the project team have presented selected finds of particular significance from their ongoing work. By popular demand, the finds, which are published in regular intervals, are now also available in English.

In addition to a brief introduction to the documents in question, the team provide a digital scan of the archive material and a complete transcription of the source text.

The latest piece leads back to the turn of the year from 1525 to 1526 when Martin Luther's ‘German Mass and Order of Divine Service’ (VD16 M 4917) was published in Wittenberg. With this publication, the reformer responded to the long-standing request to present a complete and uniform order of service in the common language that corresponded to his theology and could be used to standardise ceremonies in Protestant parishes.
