Researchers who have completed their doctorate and have institutional ties in Germany can apply to one of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities or the The German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina to be admitted to the Academies’ Programme with a research project. The project must meet the criteria of the Academies’ Programme in terms of its focus, scope and duration.
Applications can be submitted until 31 January 2027.
The Academies’ Programme is currently the largest long-term research programme in Germany for foundational research in the humanities and social sciences and is coordinated by the Union of Academies. It is designed to enable long-term basic research in the humanities and, working from historical perspectives, legal studies, economics and social sciences. Research questions and materials in these areas which dovetail with those of certain natural sciences can also be addressed within the framework of the Academies’ Programme. The central task of the Academies’ Programme is the exploration, preservation and interpretation of cultural traditions of major importance for research and for societies at large.
